Second Harvest Heartland
November 2, 2011
Throughout the year, Second Harvest Heartland relies on the generosity and commitment of many groups and individuals to help transform the hunger-relief system in our community. The Vintner Ball is an example of how caring individuals can cooperate to meaningfully improve the lives of our neighbors.
During the past five years, more than $700,000 has been raised at the Vintner Ball on behalf of Second Harvest Heartland: enough to provide more than two million meals to those in our community who count on us for support.
The demand for food has never been greater. Hunger in our service area has doubled in the past five years. And today, nearly 40% of the people we serve are children under the age of 18. Here in the breadbasket of the world’s wealthiest nation, there is no reason our neighbors should go hungry.
The commitment and partnership of our Vintner Ball friends is a shining example of the tremendous support of our community. When we work together, we can truly transform the lives of our neighbors in need.
We are honored, once again, to partner with Vintner Ball members and guests who share our commitment to ensuring everyone in our community has enough to eat. Please become part of the solution to this solvable problem, and help support this year’s Vintner Ball. Now, more than ever before, our neighbors are counting on it.
My sincere thanks,
Rob Zeaske
Executive Director
